Healthy Hips

Unlock the secrets of one of the body’s most complex structures: the hips. In this interactive workshop, we’ll journey deep into the hip joint. We’ll explore the chain reaction of movement through the knees and feet, and pay special attention to healthy alignment for alleviating lower back pain. We’ll identify lifestyle and psychological factors that can cause the hips to feel tight, and learn how to safely release tension and increase mobility. Starting with a basic sequence of postures that will allow you to see the relationship between the hips and the rest of your body, we’ll gradually build up to more complex poses. You’ll leave this workshop with a better understanding of how to safely navigate your personal yoga practice, and feel better equipped to approach challenging postures like padmasana (lotus pose) and eka pada sirsasana (leg behind the head pose). This workshop is open to students of all levels.
