Meditation In Metal:
An exhibition of welded wall sculptures to bring presence and peace
November 30th 2017 – February 28th 2018
Opening reception: Thursday, November 30th 6:00 – 9:00 pm
The Land Yoga Art Gallery
2116 Fredrick Douglass Boulevard,
New York, NY 10026
Land Yoga is proud to welcome back metal sculptor Noah Baumwoll who has created a new series of meditating figurative metal wall sculptures inspired by yoga and meditation.
Noah says “The focus of this exhibition is on the practice of meditation as a path to self-knowledge and inner calm. My hope is that these sculptures serve as reminders to be present, and to awaken the quiet observer within.”,
Living in these sped up, changing, and stressful times, there is a need more than ever to slow down and to be present. For Noah, the creative process itself is a meditation, and it is his hope that this sculpture series of meditating beings inspires the viewer to pause, reflect, and look within.
Noah’s work can be seen on his website noahart.com

Philosophical Underpinnings of Scratch-Off Meditation
August 6th, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
The fundamental building block of this universe is chance. Chance is the only thing which underlies everything. When you go down to the subatomic level, it’s all based on probability distribution. For example, you cannot determine the position and momentum of an electron simultaneously. Through Scratch-Off Meditation we reflect on the basis of the existence of the universe that we are aware of. We pay homage to the role of chance in our lives. We honor the fact that every imaginable possibility is ultimately probabilistic and therefore a result of chance.
Meet The Artists:
Venkatesh Mani and Erik Sanner are a collaborative team consisting of a real-life scientist (Mani) and artist (Sanner) who created Mr. Scratch-Off together. Mr. Scratch-Off creates Scratch-Off Mandalas by restructuring the data and graphics found in scratch-off lottery tickets. The colors, shapes and structures of these mandalas are largely determined by chance.
